Its rugged texture may apear uniform in color from a distance, but upclose it shows off its beautiful gradations of redish-browns. Textured with deep vertical ridges and grooves, it creates distinctive patterns forming complex and irregular shapes adding to the tree's unique character. Despite its roughness, the bark can also feel quite soft to the touch, almost velvety in some areas. I love how the deep reds stand out against bright greens to create a vibrant contract of color. The sun peaking through the canopy grazing the side of the tree only further enriches the barks texture and color. It truly is a mesmerizing place, absolutly worth the title of national monument.
